South Dakota- Part 1

For a couple of years we have wanted to take a trip to South Dakota with Chris' parents, so we went this year (it is our year of many vacations!) We drove there Wednesday, met up with them and Trish's cousin, Margie, and got settled into our rental house.

Thursday we road the 1890 train.

It was a hard and long ride for Molly. She rode with me half of the time and Chris the other half. That way we could each have some time to enjoy the ride.

The Black Hills are really beautiful mountains. We saw lots of deer on our ride, plus some of us saw a beaver!
and we saw a lot of old, abandoned mines.

Later that day we had some presents to open from all of the July birthdays.

And that night we went to see Mt. Rushmoore. On the way we saw some big horn sheep right by the side of the road! Two moms and 2 babies. So cool.
And we could see the side few of Mt Rushmoore from where we stopped to see the sheep.

We pulled out the Ergo for this trip. Molly has some mixed feelings about it, but we were sure glad to have it!!

Mt. Rushmoore is so incredible. We went at night to see the lighting of it. It was really neat and made you feel very patriotic!
(we grabbed some friends we saw from RS to take this group shot of us- such a small world)

Before the show started we had chocolate cupcakes (for the summer birthdays). We decided that it was not a good setting to eat chocolate cupcakes. They tipped off the plates, and onto clothing, far too easily.
