Rain

It rained today!

I didn't know I would ever feel this way, but I do really miss the rain. And what made it even better is that it is raining in Feb. in Wyoming. Rain! Not snow! I am most excited because it means that spring is coming (although not for a few months). Maybe I can wear my wellies with the next rain. (wellies are what rain boots are called in Scotland).
And on a completely separate and unrelated note:
For some reason Caitlin's eyes always look even bigger when we put messy pigtails in her hair.
And don't Ashlee's eyes look big when we do her hair that way. (just kidding)

Dear Dad

We Miss You Daddy.
And We Love You!

We are glad you are having fun, but we can't wait until you get back home on Saturday.

playing around

A little football, anyone? Or, Mom, as the case may be. We play catch for a while, and she says to me "Good catch". As she has just thrown the ball about 3 feet, which is a good 4 feet short of where I am sitting, so there was obviously no catch at all. I wonder if she is building up my self esteem by really meaning "nice try, mom", or her own by meaning "nice throw, Caitlin!". I am sure it is neither and she simply is saying "good catch" because that is what is meant to be said while playing catch.
A little sisterly love after a hard thrown game.

nap time awakenings

Caitlin loves to "go get" Ashlee when she wakes up from her nap.

When we hear a thumping on the ceiling we know Ashlee is awake. The thumping is her lifting her legs up and banging them back down on her bed. (It is much louder when she is in the pack-n-play then when she is in the crib.)

Caitlin says "Oh, Ash-ee awake.

I say "Go get her."

Caitlin says "I go get her. You stay here Mom. You stay here!" (I don't know where she gets her bossiness from, but I'll give you a hint. Someones' siblings called her "Bossy Beth" when she was growing up)

She runs to the room and climbs into the crib with Ashlee, or today she climbed into the pack-n-play for the first time. (I know, she is 2 1/2 and today was her first climb into the p.n.p, she just has never been much of a climber.) Then they have playtime together for a while until I come and get them. Could be a minute or 10 minutes. Ashlee just lays there and watches whatever Caitlin does, which usually involves jumping (not just sitting and posing, like this picture would suggest).

the big 6

Ashlee has reached the big 6, 6 months that is. The big day was Saturday, though we did no celebrating what-so-ever. We probably didn't even acknowledge the fact that she was 6 months. However, she did have her 6 month check up today. She is healthy and happy; a fact that we are well aware of without the help of a doctor. She is weighing in at a hefty 18lb 4oz, but she has actually dropped down to the 88th% rather than the 95th. We managed through the vaccines with minimal crying and are happy to not have to go back for 6 more months. I love when babies get to this age and are truly interacting more and are interested in things and play with things, and look around and take in everything they possibly can.
Happy 6 months Ashlee girl.

master bedroom

Another room is done! Since we have moved in I have been so slow about decorating. The girls room was done in November and today I finished our room! This is the biggest room we have had that was just our bedroom; not a storage room, or craft room, or sewing room. We even repainted a wall, which was our first ever painting experience. We have a few accessories left, but it is pretty much done.

a laugh a day

Ashlee enjoying a laugh, with some help from Dad.

I am participating in a program from our insurance company to get some discounts next year. We are sharing a laugh each day to help have a healthier life. I don't know how I could possibly go a day without a laugh, being at home with a baby and 2 year old everyday; and having a husband who is a bit of a comedian himself. Laughing is great- take time to laugh everyday.

warmth and beauty

The weather was beautiful today, so we played outside- twice. That is some kind of record for us here in the winter. If there is one thing I have always loved about Wyoming it is the beautiful, warmer (like 40 degrees), NO WIND!!!!!, no cloud in the big blue sky days that come around every now and again during winter. These days make up for those cold and windy ones. These days also allow me to break the monotony of our lives inside. Caitlin loves it. There was a bit of a nip in the air, so her hands were freezing and I asked her if she wanted to go inside. She said, "No!! I want to stay outside" I guess next time I could just put her gloves on, how novel.
