sledding

The kids FAVORITE thing we did in Steamboat was sledding!
We don't usually get enough snow to do much sledding in Rock Springs, so this was only their 2nd time ever, and they LOVED every second of it (and it was fun for the adults as well)
The nice hill we found was at the LDS church!

More Snow

We have had ALOT of snowstorms this winter. And yesterday we had more.
Luckily we have a south facing driveway, so alot of the snow melts off itself.
But we still shovel when there is any accumulation.
Yesterday the girls went outside and did the shoveling! (it may have been assigned to them)
They were happy doing it and came in afterward for hot chocolate.
I told them to do the best they could, and they did a great job!!

1st Snow

We were forecasted to have snow, and snow we had.
The girls checked it out in the wee hours of the morning in our room. Molly has been waking up so early, and so everyone else wakes up to. This picture was taken about 6:30.

The snow was wet and heavy and there was alot of it.

We got our gear on to go and shovel.
Molly was so cute in her little snow pants so I added the picture despite goofy Ashlee.

And once again the picture was added despite Ashlee :)
Molly could only see if she tipped her head up, and if she fell down she couldn't get back up! She loved walking around eating the snow though. And Caitlin and Ashlee tried to help shovel, but found having a snow fight much more fun.

Caitlin and Ashlee geared up again after lunch to play and build a snowman!
We usually love the fall here in Rock Springs, but it is kind of letting us down this year. This winter might be even longer then usual...

Sledding

I took the girls sledding on Saturday.
It was their first time ever, which seems really sad seeing as we do live in Wyoming.  However, we don't get very much snow here, and what we do get usually melts away quickly or blows away.  Thus, not a lot of sledding opportunities.
Saturday had just barely enough snow to almost cover all the grass and make sledding possible.
The girls had tons of fun.
They were going down the hill soooooo slowly, but they thought it was so fast!

Molly and I watched a little,
and participated a little.  Molly seemed to like sledding down the hill.

Ashlee:
The hardest part is going back up the hill time after time.
 Caitlin:

On one of Caitlin's runs down the hill she took an awesome face plant right into the snow.  She was fine and we had a good laugh about it.
We will try to go out again as soon as we can!

A 2nd girls weekend- of sorts

Chris was scheduled to adjudicate (judge for ACTF) 2 shows in Colorado over this past weekend, so he took Ashlee with him.  They stayed with Chris' parents and Ashlee got a lot of time with them and her cousin!  We were worried she would be home sick and cry; but she didn't at all, she was so good the whole time.

That left me, Caitlin, and Molly at home to have a fun weekend ourselves.
It started snowing just before Caitlin got out of school on Friday. Perfect tongue catching snow!
We went out for dinner and frozen yogurt Friday night.

Saturday we cleaned, played, went to a birthday party and played in the snow.  I can't remember the last time I went out and played in the snow with the girls, Chris usually does that, but we had lots of fun!
It started getting windy and the snow started blowing around- see it blowing off the roofs?

This little girl was great and loved playing with her big sister.

Caitlin is so good with Molly.  She let her ride in her boat, and she even did all the rowing!  Lucky Molly.

Snow Play

We got some snow Friday night, so Chris and the girls set out to shovel in the morning.
Ashlee preferred to play in the snow without gloves and get freezing cold rather then shovel.
There was plenty of time to play in the snow after the work was done and they produced a cute little snowman.  I'm glad Chris likes to play out in the snow with them, because I really don't.

Finally some snow

We are not complaining at all this year, because we didn't really have any snow to speak of until Monday, November 22nd. That is crazy, unheard of, very rare, and we couldn't be happier! It meant that we actually had a very nice fall this year.

The girls were excited to gear up and shovel with Dad.

MAY 12th........

And this is what we get!?

One of the unfortunate "perks" of living in Wyoming

yum, yum.....snow

Last week we had snow almost everyday, but it would also melt the day it fell.

Saturday we had more accumulation, so the girls got bundled up to play while I shoveled.

We played at just the right time because it melted away a few hours later.

Like most other kids, their favorite thing to do with the snow is eat it.
